Record Club (videos)
It's always nice to come back to these Record Club favorites. If you haven't watched these/listened to these covers, you should; they're lovely.
Their cover of Never Tear Us Apart by INXS makes me feel dizzy and romantic. Its intense musical language seems to ignite emotions, trigger fantasies and cause a story of love to project in my mind. This version far surpasses the original with Annie Clark's deeply moving vocals and a violin solo that is completely core-shaking. When they added this a few months ago, I had it on repeat for days; and I think history has already begun to repeat itself...
This is a cover of I'll Be Your Mirror by Velvet Underground and Nico. And although the song is beautiful, I feel that the video could have been stronger if the visuals were as sensitive as it is sonically...I still heart this recording though.
What makes these covers so special, is that various musicians get together and record these covers without rehearsal, and often, with only one take.

Big Troubles - Worry LP
Hey man, what's the matter? Why do you look so... worried? Is it 'cause the player doesn't have a download button yet? That's what it is, isn't it? Yeah... I had the same worried look on my face, too, but I wouldn't worry too much; it's the 26th and that little download button should magically appear on the 31st. So cheer up buck, you only have 5 more days to go...
In actuality, that's really not that long; lets think of some fun things you can do until then: like... maybe you could put some water in a pot and wait for it to boil? Or you could try staring at the clock on the wall and wait for it to tick? Those sound like fun...
...or maybe you could pre-order this LP at oesbee-shoppe.blogspot.com? Whatever you choose to do, do it while streaming Big Troubles' first LP below.

Tamaryn
Tamaryn's music makes me dream of pulling over on that long deserted road, where the bend wraps around a deep and endless canyon of rocks and seemingly vacant wilderness. A balance of isolation and connection finds me staring off with an untamed tenderness. As my gaze turns glossy, and the sun's hands cause my shadow to tick and slowly fade into the evening, I am left standing alone to feel nothing but wind and wonder.
Listen to a few of Tamaryn's atmospheric tracks, including Love Fade (just added yesterday) on MySpace
Tamaryn's full-length debut album The Waves will be released on September 7 on Mexican Summer.

Ghost Animal
Here's a little preview of Ghost Animal's forthcoming EP from Spooky Town Records. This is Tired (A Ceremony), a more mellow new wave track coming from these guys (in comparison to their other explosive noise pop releases). This is a great song to help you ease out of the hot months and into the cooler ones. I totally dig it. In fact, I love it. This was released today and is available for free download.
Also, according to them, Summertime in Heaven will be available "VERY VERY SOON" (limited to 100 cassettes and download)

Album/Song Preview: The Fruhstucks - Small Nice Ruin
Coming in hot! And I mean HOT. You might want to wear potholders just to press play on this track. Here's The Fruhstucks' latest song/video of Small Nice Ruin. I love how they lead you in with over a minute of instrumentals then blast you with echoing vocals and more melodic experimentation. So good.

The Fruhstucks - Interview
Two talented musicians challenged the distance with their boundless passion and began to create experimental electro-pop that would soon capture the attention of others around the world. Their recently released Parade, I Don't Care EP carries your ears through an impressive set of relaxed melodies, and invites you to fall in love with their creative world.
I recently had the opportunity to interview Sutja—a man behind the love, enthusiasm and harmonic energy that makes up The Fruhstucks.
What inspired you to make music together? How did it all begin?
The lack of elegance, kindness and passion in previous bands made us fall in love as soon as we met each other.
What did you listen to when you were growing up?
Mmm so much music, various genres... like old school hip hop, rock and roll, or old strange electronic music... like Throbbing Whistle, The Cure, Bob Dylan, Run DMC, Joy Division, prince...
What are you currently listening to?
I think now is the time to listen new bands who make music remembering other times, or other feelings mixed with the actual technology.. and I think that is nice for all the world. Evolution.
We listen to nice bands like Ariel Pink, Beach House, Best Coast, Wavves, Robertas, Summer Camp, Yacht...
When did you learn to play music, and how? Did you study somewhere?
I don't think we are good music teachers, or musicians... We made things nice to hear and to fall in love very fast, but we don't care about music perfection. We think it's just us, and we need to tell all the people to make visual art, music, or other creative things... The Fruhstucks isn't only a band... It's a place to make some creative things and art shared with everyone and for everyone.
Can you describe some more of your influences? Music, literature, culture, life, etc.?
We both come from different backgrounds but in both cases our life experiences have been quite intense. We wish days had much more hours to enjoy as we'd like to but we do our best and we learn every single day of our existence.
When do you feel the most inspired? Is it generally in the morning or night? Or after something specific?
I had the mornings quite understimated but after joining The Fruhstucks I guess I'm more morning-friendly. Anyway we don't need something specific. Sometimes songs make you feel dizzy... That's enough.
When you are not composing, how do you typically spend your day? What kind of hobbies do you enjoy?
Actually our first hobby is music. We listen so much music all the day because we both have been playing music as DJ's in several clubs in Spain... We love having a coffee, writing, listening to new music stuff, partying, meeting new people and new artists... friends for the band team.
Of your songs, which is the most meaningful to you, and why?
That's funny because we had huge meaningful emotions when we finished She Doesn't Know... But we just got mad with the intro in Parade, I Don't Care. Let's see what's happen tomorrow.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
Well, say thanks for this interview to you Teresa and your beauty site the Relentless Noisemaker. And just say we play the 9th October in Paris (at le Truskel) and the 14th in Tenerife, Canary Islands (at Festival Keroxen) We prepare our new release with 2 free digital songs and 4 vinyl songs for Christmas with our parents, lovers, and lovely friends Race Car Productions label team.
Thank you, Sutja, for this lovely interview, it has been a joy! All the best to you!

The Fruhstucks - Parade, I Don't Care EP
As I sit here with the sun shining outside and plans of brunch and camping with friends, I was about to hit that magic button that suddenly frees me from my music addiction and allows me to go be productive. We all know this button - the 'Shutdown' button. Or in most cases, for me, the 'Sleep' button (because I know I'll be back). I welcome and fear this button just the same but it's times like this when I hover over it then draw back from all danger and click on that one last album, and don't regret it one bit.
This is what Fruh-st(r)uck me and I listened to it; and decided that it couldn't wait 'til later today or tomorrow - I needed to share it now; and I'll probably be late for brunch. I hope my friends can forgive me.
The Fruhstucks are as delicious as my brunch is going to be. MMMMMMM, stream this yummy EP and download it for free below.

Here's one heck of an EP for your Friday night. Richie James Follin from the garage/punk band The Willows just released a newly mastered version of his solo project (Guards) this week; and I have to say, this is exactly what I needed. Here are two soft, whispery experimental tracks from Sea Oleena (Charlotte Oleena). She produced these earlier this year with an old guitar missing a string and a sudden urge to wipe off the dust and start producing music during the cold winter months in Canada.

Mountain Man - Made The Harbor
I didn't know what to expect when I saw this album cover but I had a feeling it wasn't going to be a sinker; and I was right - it's really quite beautiful and is exactly what I was looking for. If you like Alela Diane or the vocals of First Aid Kit, then you'll probably enjoy this folk album by these Vermont girls: Molly Erin Sarle, Alexandra Sauser-Monnig and Amelia Randall Meath. It's wonderfully complex, and yet, so very simple.

Tennis
I found my old tennis racket yesterday and realized that I haven't posted anything on Tennis yet, which was a big fault on my part. I'm guessing by now, a lot of people know about these guys, but for those who don't, hold on to your rackets, here comes a smash of lounge rock that will swing you over the baseline. And judging by the looks of ya, I can already tell that you and Tennis are going to make a perfect match.
Serving a double dirtballer below: Baltimore and Marathon.
Marathon has been running through my mind since June and always makes me a little faint inside. Maybe the name has something to do with it?
When I play Tennis, the score is always LOVE-LOVE.

On Record: A.Moore, P.Riley; Live: A. Moore, P. Riley, R. McKinney

Man Man
Hey, remember Man Man from a while back? Well here are some videos.
I now realize what I needed in the back of my truck. This whole time, I thought it was a pinion bearing...
Man, I love Honus Honus's scratchy voice. It's kind of like my old bearing...but has way more rhythm and soul; and, in this case, I don't want to change it one bit...
"I'll have the steak, but hold the steak."
Be a (wo)man and check out Man Man on MySpace or on their website here.

Big Troubles - Bite Yr Tongue
Watch this video, or you'll be in Big Troubles! I mean that. These guys will leave Jersey and come find you. That is, unless, you're already in Jersey – and, in which case...you don't have much time to escape; so, you should probably just watch it then, huh?
OK, so you watched it. Now what? Alright, here's an idea: if you don't pass this along to ten people in the next ten minutes, you'll be in MORE Big Troubles over the next ten years. Just kidding. I don't mean that. I would never put a curse on you... but you should pass this along because you like Big Troubles and you want your friends to hear how awesome they are.
Oh, and one more thing, find these guys on MySpace......or else......I'm telling Mom!
(Is that overboard? Did I go overboard??...should I bite my tongue??)
